Kate, owner and head trainer at MSS began riding at the age of 6 at a local barn in her home state of Massachusetts. As a young rider, she developed a strong foundation in dressage, which she continues to utilize to this day. As a junior rider, Kate competed in the hunters, jumpers and equitation both locally and nationally. Throughout her junior career, she was a working student, learning from some of the best in the industry. As a result, horse care and management have always been a top priority for her, and she prides herself in prioritizing the needs of the horse above all else. Additionally, from a young age, Kate worked predominantly with difficult and green horses. As a result, she specializes in bringing young horses along from halter breaking to jumping their first jumps as well as helping “difficult” horses build confidence and better understand their role.
Kate moved to New Jersey in 2010 after graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. During her time at UMass, Kate rode for the equestrian team as Cacchione Cup rider and served as Captain for two years. After moving to New Jersey to train horses full time, she decided to pursue her other passion in nursing, all the while still working with the horses part-time. After graduating from nursing school, Kate became and Emergency/Trauma nurse, however she continued to work in the industry part time. In 2020, after having her daughter, Kate decided to return to the industry full-time and has been assisting her students and horses succeed both in and out of the show ring ever since.
